Eternal Christendom’s “AI” Commitment
Adopted January 29, 2026
WHEREAS, in light of the revolutionary changes currently taking place as a result of so-called “Artificial Intelligence” (AI);
WHEREAS, our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV aptly reminded us on the Memorial of the great evangelist and apologist St. Francis de Sales that “Media and communication companies, for their part, cannot allow algorithms designed to capture a few extra seconds of attention at any cost, to prevail over their professional values, which are aimed at seeking the truth”;
WHEREAS, the Holy Father has also reminded us that “Public trust is earned by accuracy and transparency, not by chasing after any kind of possible engagement”;
WHEREAS, the Holy Father has likewise declared that “Content generated or manipulated by AI are to be clearly marked and distinguished from content created by humans”;
THEREFORE, Eternal Christendom—by a unanimous vote of its Board, and in consultation with its priestly advisor under whose authority it acts—makes the following commitment to its patrons, supporters, and audience, subject to more definitive statements and teachings in the future by the magisterium of the Catholic Church:
Eternal Christendom will never share original content—written, video, audio, or images—that has been generated by “AI” (subject to a narrow exception: if we identify it as “AI” generated, and use it to illustrate something about “AI”).
To the extent our patrons, supporters, and audience rely on us for information, insights, and arguments that are accurate and well-founded, as well as content that is beautiful and points to Him who is the ground of all Beauty, this credibility fundamentally rests upon their trust in us as fellow rational in whom they have placed a portion of their confidence.
For the same reasons that this credibility cannot be manufactured by or outsourced to other human beings in whom they have not placed such confidence, so too it cannot and will not be outsourced to “AI.”
Eternal Christendom intends to release a more comprehensive theological and philosophical outline of its approach to “AI” later this year.
